Since the first time I watched "El aura" (The aura) -three times by now- I was touched by an awkward, strange feeling. It didn't even make sense where this was supposed to be filmed. he is as helpless as any other man in the face of those elements he cannot control, even when he strives for control of the choices he has made. In my point of view Nine Queen is a nice, frivolous exercise, but once and for all, "El aura" is a whole new game, a different stage. Maybe it goes on too long, but Bielinsky has used the noir format – a heist, actually several, that go wrong; a naive man who falls in with dangerous company – to develop a rich and mysterious character who's got all the ambitions and defects of the noir hero, and then some. The acting and crappy "american" accents were too distracting. Esteban stays alone and while hunting a deer, he accidentally kills Dietrich near a shed. Only the local psychic can help and she knows far more than she reveals. It meanders and winds up more or less where it started – plus a shaggy dog. The Aura was the late director Fabian Bielinsky's follow-up to the exciting conman movie Nine Queens. When his wife leaves him, he accepts the invitation of his friend Sontag (Alejandro Awada) to hunt in a forest. A deluded taxidermist plans the perfect crime.
