So there's no lead fouling in the bore and the splash-back on steel targets is minimized. I haven't seen any polymer buildup though. You can probably infer that I'm biased, but here's a couple notes on polymer coated bullets. The coatings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, although the same goes for plated bullets (different copper alloys plated to different thicknesses).Several manufacturers use the Hi-Tek Supercoat, and others use all kinds of different polymers including plain nylon, polyurethane, polyester, etc., so the performance of the coatings will vary from company to company. Our EM bullets use Polyester TGIC, so this info applies specifically to our own coating. I have only fired 3 rounds with those so I have nothing to report yet.I have a lot of copper plated 9mm and .30 carbine bullets, from X-treme and Rainier.I'm closing in on 1500 or so bullets from Eggleston Munitions went down range. We use a unique heat-set "HI-TEK Supercoat" manufactured by J&M Specialized Products P/L in …

Very happy with the so far, the only shortcomings have been my own. On average, the coated bullets weighed less than the stated 180 gr (179.2 gr) while the plated bullets were dead-on. Some of the "thick" plated do a bit better but I shoot much better with coated lead. I am very pleased with the accuracy I would highly recommend them.I usually use Rainer plated bullets in 9mm and 45 ACP, no complaints, love them! I hate having to find FMJ bullets, plus they are expensive.I'd like to be able to get 1200-1300fps out of the 180gr bullets. Coatings come in a variety of colors. Our Polymer coated bullets are made from our hard cast lead (16 BHN) and coated with a high quality Polymer finish. I’ve repeated the 9mm comparison with another barrel (Rock Island Armory) and another powder (Power Pistol), and found the same result: the polymer coated bullets shoot a slightly smaller group.

Figure 4. My guess about the top end speed will be VERY dependent upon the bullet size relative to bore diameter. Figure 5. Cast Lead Coated Bullets Hi-Tek Super Coat. The wax-lubed and polymer coated groups are nearly the same size, but the coated bullet groups are smaller. Badman Polymer Coated Bullets are our high quality hard cast lead bullets encapsulated with a 2 layer baked on durable Polymer Coating finish. Figure 7. Badman Polymer Coated Bullets will stand up to higher pressure loads compared to the soft core plated bullets. Some of our bullets are shorter than typical lead or plated bullets, and use a shorter C.O.A.L as a result.Use of 'Factory Crimp' dies is discouraged, but careful testing can yield successful results.A light taper crimp is the preferred method for crimping, if the body or base of the bullet is squished by too much crimping the result may be poor accuracy and/or keyhole issues.Flair the case mouths enough that the polymer coating is not being shaved off during bullet seating, this is crucial in preventing leading.Unlike regular hard cast lead bullets, fast burning powders such as Titegroup will work exceptionally well with EM Polymer Coated bullets. As always, start light and work up to more powerful loads. Our coated bullets are available in multiple colors which are great for identifying loads, are custom sized for your specific firearm, and are more affordable than either plated or jacketed bullets. I'd still like to have someone verify before I buy first.I'm going to pickup some to try from a local supplier. A: Eggleston Polymer Coated Bullets are hard cast bullets with a tough polymer shell which encases the lead projectile. Acceptable accuracy. They are similar in concept to copper plated bullets, except the plating is made out of polymer instead of copper or copper alloy. I'm curious to hear about the experiences of someone who's shot thousands of coated ones.I use Berry's plated bullets for 380, 9x18 (Makarov), 9mm Luger, 38 special, and 45 acp.
Prior (Nyclad) and current (Syntech) coated bullets in Federal ammunition. In a nutshell the cost like lead and perform like jacketed. Initial testing has proven the polymer coated bullets to be more accurate with a dramatic decrease in smoke. That's what Master Class shooting is all about. Coated bullets eliminate this problem. The EM bullets can also be fired at up to 2,300 fps without any issues, I believe the fastest you can fire a thick-plated bullet is around 1,500 fps. Generally, the coatings are good for velocities in the 1200-1500 fps range, similar to copper plated bullets, which covers the speeds of most handgun cartridges. I'll probably put in an order over the next week!New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castLooks like you're using new Reddit on an old browser.
