Flying Legends is in the middle of July and the main Duxford Air Show is in September. If you are coming from the north, a signposted alternative is to leave at Junction 11 and take the A10 to Royston, then the A505. I would say that if there is a high likelihood of you returning to the UK the weight goes more toward the Battle fo Britain since if you return you could see Flying Legends then. It will be the 80th Anniversary of the air battle and I anticipate they will make the air show special.

Duxford has several Airshows during the season with the popular Flying Legends Air Show usually being held in July. 11-12th July 2020. Certainly the weather is more favourable in July and you have far more daylight with which to explore.If you only spend one night then you have to sort luggage too, buy another night or two in Cambridge solves that and lets you see the city.As to which one, its impossible to tell you but we can throw down information that might help you pick or steer the choice.Both are major airshows, both with a lot of warbirds there.Flying Legends happens every year and has a huge range of types present....the last I went to had the bilbao at the end with sixtyish aircraft and possibly 20 types.You need to consider the time of year too, September is more likely to get some poor weather which affects show altitudes and sometimes the aircraft going up as well as your comfort. The bus is free (you have to show your show ticket) but parking isn't.The easiest train station is Cambridge, which has a direct service from London. There is parking at the museum. But I am interested in the Flying Legends show in July 2020.
